Harry Brooks - Augusta Police Department
Harry Brooks was appointed chief of Augusta Police Department May 18. Brooks has 32 years of law enforcement experience and began his career with the Maysville Police Department, where he retired as a lieutenant after 22 years of service. After sitting out for 14 years, Brooks returned to the Augusta Police Department in 2008 and retired a second time in 2016. He came back to Augusta in March of 2017 as a part-time officer before being named chief. Brooks has a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Andersonville Baptist Seminary, Camilla, Ga. He also is a 1973 graduate of the Department of Criminal Justice Training Basic Training Academy Class and has more than 1900 training hours.
William Hunt - Somerset Police Department
William Hunt was appointed chief of Somerset Police Department on Feb. 27. Hunt has nearly 21 years of law enforcement experience. His entire law enforcement career has been spent with Somerset, moving through the ranks to become chief. Prior to joining the Somerset Police Department, Hunt was an honor graduate from the United States Air Force Police Academy and served as a member of Security Police. Hunt is a graduate of the Department of Criminal Justice Training Basic Training Class No. 252. He also is a graduate of Academy of Police Supervision Class No. 2 and Criminal Justice Executive Development Class No. 13. Hunt has earned more than 2,434 hours of Law Enforcement Training, including certifications from the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council in areas of Intermediate Law Enforcement Officer, Advanced Law Enforcement Officer, Law Enforcement Supervisor, Law Enforcement Manager and Law Enforcement Executive. He was one of the first active shooter instructors ever certified in Pulaski County, which afforded him the chance to reach out to schools and businesses, helping to cultivate community policing efforts.
Roger Nowakowski - Stamping Ground Police Department
Roger Nowakowski was appointed chief of Stamping Ground Police Department May 22. Nowakowski has 23 years of law enforcement experience. He began his law enforcement career with the Dry Ridge Police Department and has served the Williamstown, Campbell Co., and Falmouth police departments. Nowakowski has an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northern Kentucky University. He is a graduate of the Department of Criminal Justice Training Basic Training Academy Class No. 235.
